Thursday 9 June 2016

Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has 354 neighbourhoods in each of them has been established a local council, wiht 7 members and 3 alternate ones whom are elected by local residents for every 4 years.

The main objective of the local councils in Tehran is reflecting local residents’ needs and demands to the Islamic City Council of Tehran, so thy called ShowraYari, that means in Farsi, an entity that helps Tehran council (in Farsi: Showra), and so their members are called Showrayar (singular: One who helps the City Council) and ShowraYaran (plural: Showrayars). Thus, Tehran, now has 3540 Showrayas in office and several thousands out of office from previous terms, many of them may need to learn rules of order.

In order to teach rules of order to Tehran ShowraYars, a dozen of them are organizing a society upon Roberts’ Rules of Order Newly Revised as their parliamentary authority.

Until now, they have held two workshops for learning and exercising Roberts’ Rules of Order Newly Revised in the Office of the Cadres (in Farsi: KADRs, that means Kargah ha ye Amoozesh e Dastoorname ye Robert, in English: workshop for teaching Roberts’ Rules of Order) in Tehran, Iran.
