New Achievement For Robert’s Rules Of Order In Iran

Wednesday 15 July 2020

Everyone who knows Mr. Mohammad Otaredian probably would acknowledge that it is a great achievement for Robert’s Rules of Order in Iran.

On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, Mr, Otaredian called the first Iranian self-educated parliamentarian and told him that next Monday they both should meet with Mr. Manssory, the Deputy Minister of Employment and Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Otaredian is indeed the main founder of the Iranian Confederation of Employers’ Associations (ICEA) established more than 24 years ago.

He is its president and its main delegate to the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Those who follow the processes know that Mr. Otaredian has played significant roles in some important social affairs.

One of them is the "tripartism and social dialogue", an important ILO’s international program, and another one is "Decent Work", also one of the most famous ILO’s projects. Mr. Otaredian has attempted hardly for localization of these modern ideas in Iran.

In the economic area, he always tries to flourish the free market economy, because he believes deeply non-governmental businesses.

But what are the relations between all of them with Robert’s Rules of Order?

The more interesting story is this: Mr. Otaredian is the first Iranian who has supported the first self-educated Iranian parliamentarian’s attempt for promotion of Robert’s Rules of Order in Iran. The list of his supports is long and the latest one is the subject of today’s story.

As was said, Mr. Otaredian who is also a member of the Supreme Employment Council has a very close relationship with the Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare, and other ministerial officials.

Mr. Otaredian in his call explained that Mr. Mansoory, the Deputy Minister of Employment and Entrepreneurship is looking for a brief manual for presiding officers of Iranian assemblies. "I suggested to him that the only one who can write such manual professionally are you"- Mr. Otaredian added. And it is the same new achievement for Robert’s Rules Of Order In Iran explained by the title of this report.

The story of the relation between Robert’s Rules of Order and some officials of the ministry is long and one day must be narrated. But the latest story about Mr. Massori is worth to be said.

A few days ago, a woman called to the Office of Robert’s Rules of Order Workshops and asked how she could buy the book? The answer was clear: the book has not yet published for selling. But if she needs it then she could have it free of charge.

When she came to the Office to get a volume of the Persian translator of Robert’s Rules of Order, she explained why she was looking for a brief and good manual for presiding officers in Iranian assemblies.

Indeed, she was an adviser to Mr.Manssori and whose responsibility was searching and finding or even writing a brief manual for presiding any assembly, just the same need that Mr. Henry Martin Robert felt it more than 155 years ago in the United States of America. With a very big and civilizational difference: in the USA, the parliamentary procedure already exited and English settlers brought along to America the parliamentary processes they had known in the old country, in British. Thus, Mr. Robet explained the rules all of them were well known by many Americans. But in Iran, despite translation of Robert’s Rules of Order, no one knows it yet and it is just the starting point of an endless and rough and unknown path.

However, the first Iranian self-educated parliamentarian gave her a volume of Persian Robert’s Rules with Mr. Otaredian’s preface and explained a little of his experiences obtained through localization of these rules in Iran.

At the end of the discussion, he suggested her it would be better if Mr. Otaredian could engage into the case.

Apparently, the story finished and there was nothing from that woman until Wednesday, July 15, 2020, when Mr. Otaredian called and told the story of Mr. Manssori. Perhaps the woman has done her job perfectly!

Next Monday, July 20, 2020, is the date for a joint meeting whit Mr. Manssori, the Deputy Minister of Employment and Entrepreneurship, to discuss writing a manual for presiding assemblies according to the parliamentary procedure described in Robert’s Rules of Order newly revised 10th edition.

But Iran is a society in which any social planning is impossible. Because any artificial and modern society Iranian has built has a continuous chaotic/tyrannical characteristic.

Anyway, this story just began. Should see what the future hold.
